How it started.
Eye See NZ started with a simple observation: independent owner-operated businesses across New Zealand were each fighting the same battles alone, whether that was negotiating with suppliers, managing rising costs, keeping up with legal changes, or keeping pace with the scale of corporate chains.
The idea took shape among the local independent owners of the Matthews Eyecare group, who knew first-hand the value of standing together, and Eye See NZ was created to bring that same strength to independents everywhere - behind the scenes, while each business remains proudly its own.
Members gain access to a full set of business services, from supplier agreements and buying power through to systems, support and shared knowledge, all designed so that every independent can benefit.
And in a world where price increases are arriving thick and fast, we wanted the wins to reach further than the business itself. That's why we've worked with suppliers to secure comprehensive benefits and discounts that can be passed on to staff and their households. Independents can't always match corporate salaries, so this is one more way we give back to the people who not only make our businesses what they are, but make our communities so special.

Independent businesses from the far north to the deep south are the backbone of our country. Each one locally owned, with a name the community knows. Each one part of something no corporate can copy. And the map keeps filling in with owners not only getting access to sharper pricing, shared services and back office support, owners get to say they're apart of something far greater than themselves. This is protection to future generations. And giving them the ability to have access to quality and care overseas corporates in our communities can not give.
